Free baby tracker apps: what “free” actually means

Almost every baby tracker is “free to download”. The real question is what still works in week three: full history, both parents, export, no nag walls. Five questions will audit any tracker's free tier in about two minutes. After them, what Pipkin's free-forever pledge covers, in writing.
The five questions that expose a "free" tier
- Is your history still there? Some trackers show only the last days or weeks free, holding your own older entries behind a subscription.
- Can both parents log? Caregiver sharing is a launch-week need, and a very common paywall.
- Can you leave? If CSV export is paid, then leaving costs you your baby's whole history.
- Is the free tier a timer? A "free trial of everything" that expires is not a free tracker. It's a paid tracker with a fuse.
- Will the deal still exist next year? Features that were free have a way of migrating behind new "Premium" tiers. What stops this app doing that?

Three structural details that make the pledge more than marketing: it's dated and published, so "what's free today stays free" is written down where you can hold us to it. Why the basics are free
Tracking is the part you do 30 times a day with one hand in the dark. Charging for it punishes exhaustion.
